Finca Doña Sofia Maria We are Emilio & Andrea and our daughter Sofia. As a Spanish-German family, we combine both cultures and complement each other well: Spanish serenity and hospitality with German organisational talent and commitment. With Finca Doña Sofia Maria, we have created a little paradise that we are happy to open up to our guests with a lot of heart and soul. Come in and enjoy the tranquillity and Mediterranean flair of this idyllically situated finca in a still largely undiscovered region of Spain. Like a small Spanish village, the extensive finca complex extends over the outskirts of San Pedro del Pinatar in the region of Murcia in south-east Spain. Here on the Costa Calida, the sun shines more than 300 days a year - ideal conditions for outdoor activities and for long days on the beach at one of the many beaches of the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor, which are just a five-minute drive away. The typical Spanish-style finca houses are grouped around the garden and are equipped with all the necessary comforts. Each of the cottages has its own small terrace with a view of the garden. Facilities include air conditioning (hot/cold), flat-screen TV and satellite reception. WIFI is available throughout the finca. For shopping, 365 days a year, the Centro Comercial DOS MARES and Pinatar Park are approx. 1 km away. There are weekly markets in San Pedro every Monday and Thursday and in Lo Pagán. There you can stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables from the Huerta of Murcia. Murcia city centre is approximately 30 km away and can be easily reached via the motorway. The fine sandy beaches of the Mediterranean and Mar Menor can be reached in about 5 minutes by car. The centrepiece of Finca Doña Sofia Maria is the 4,000 m2 Mediterranean garden with lush vegetation, small dreamy paths and many cosy places to linger. The communal swimming pool with sun terraces is the perfect place to cool off. The barbecue area with covered pergola invites you to relax and socialise in the evenings. Relaxing indoor and outdoor massages are offered in our massage pavilion in the garden oasis. Enjoy a relaxing massage and let yourself be carried away into a world of fragrances and flavours. The children's playground with swings, slide and lots of fun for the little ones. Bouncing around on our giant trampoline is great fun. The Costa Cálida can be reached from many airports. Murcia airport is around 30 kilometres away. The larger Alicante airport is around 60 kilometres away. For your arrival and departure, we recommend booking a hire car, which will keep you mobile during your trip. THE MUD OF THE MAR MENOR The special climatological conditions of the Mar Menor, with numerous hours of sunshine throughout the year and a high salt content, have contributed to the development of mud deposits of special therapeutic value in the far north of the inland sea, in La Puntica, for centuries. The latest surveys carried out by the University of Murcia (in 1995) show that these deposits contain high percentages of the cations calcium, magnesium and potassium, as well as the anions chloride and sulphate, which are well above the values expected in such saline waters. In addition, the average granulation in the area shows high percentages of fine and very fine sands (loam and clay), which are the real source of the curative properties attributed to this mud. The pH base content measured here varies between 7.12 and 8.45. MAR MENOR BEACHES The Mar Menor is a saltwater lagoon next to the Mediterranean Sea in the Region of Murcia (Spain). Its special ecological and natural characteristics make the Mar Menor a unique natural landscape and the largest saltwater lake in Europe. BEACHES OF SAN PEDRO PINATAR Las Salinas, Barraca Quemada, El Mojón, Punta de Algas, La Puntica, La Mota, Torre Derribada, Villananitos. ROUTES Nature reserve - (The salt flats of San Pedro del Pinatar): The salt flats of San Pedro del Pinatar are the most important wetland biotope in the entire region. They were therefore declared a regional park in 1985. Flocks of flamingos and other migratory birds nest here every year, making a stopover in this natural area on their journey between Africa and Europe. The San Pedro Salt Pans Regional Park is a unique landscape on the Mediterranean coast, where morphological features can be seen at short distances: Salt pans, salt lakes, reed beds, beaches, "encanizadas" (the system used on the Mar Menor for fishing since time immemorial, whereby the fish entering the lagoon from the Mediterranean are caught in this labyrinth made of wood and reeds) and pine forests growing on sandy soil. AROUND THE MAR MENOR A cycle tour around the Mar Menor, along paths, dirt tracks and even a former sheep track that always runs along the water's edge, is a great way to discover this unique coastal area. Unfortunately - or fortunately - the banks of the Mar Menor are not continuous. In the "encanizadas", the cages made of wood and woven reeds, in the extreme north of La Manga, the beach is interrupted by several water channels that do not allow a continuous round trip around the Mar Menor. GOLF The "Costa Cálida" is known as the Florida of the south. Excellent golf courses have been built here in a short space of time. The golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus are just a few kilometres away. Such as the resorts and golf courses La Torre, La Loma, Hacienda Riquelme, Mar Menor Golf Resort and El Valle Golf Resort. Also Roda Golf and the famous La Manga Golf Club. In the province of Alicante, the golf courses Villamartin, Las Ramblas, La Finca and Las Colinas Golf can be reached in approx. 20 minutes by car.
