Holidays in a listed building combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a revitalised future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the "Ferien im Baudenkmal" foundation, which was set up by the Swiss Heritage Society in 2005. The tenant is aware of this and treats the property with care. Although technically equipped to modern standards, certain functional details do not meet current standards and are a potential source of danger. All surfaces are historic (floor, walls). The windows cannot be opened fully, as opening restrictors are installed, and have low parapet heights. It has low railings, steep stairs and the surfaces of the metal stoves get hot.
