Except in the height of summer (due to the risk of fire), you can go for lovely walks here and enjoy impressive views. Only about 8 km drive and you are at a very nice swimming spot in the river Orbieu (Ribaute) and to the various Mediterranean beaches it is about 35-45 minutes drive. Places of interest in the immediate vicinity: Lagrasse, Fontfroide, Canal du Midi, Carcassonne and Narbonne. An hour's drive to the nearest Cathar castle, the others are a little further away (up to 2 hours).
