Mamma Nella is located in Fiumefreddo, a beautiful town in Catania-Etna-Taormina area. The beach is just 2 kilometers away. Mamma Nella spreads on a 4500 sqm garden with tropical and rare plants, where you can spend pleasant moments having fun swimming in the pool, sunbathing or doing the barbecue in the summer kitchen! The main entrance leads directly into an open space with a large Sicilian rustic style kitchen, dining table and a living room with sofas, armchairs and television. Part of this living room can be completely isolated turning in a bedroom with a double sofa bed. On this ground floor there is also an elegant double bedroom and a bathroom with hydromassage tub. The staircase leads to the first floor where you can admire a spectacular view from the enormous terrace: Etna and the Mediterranean sea, two symbols of Sicily! In this level from a lovely living room you can access a sleeping area with two bedrooms. Both bedrooms are double and one has a slightly sloping roof and another single bed. On this floor we find a large and elegant bathroom with double shower. Another staircase, again from the main level, leads to another floor at garden level where there is a large living room with billiard table, a kitchen, a double bedroom and another bathroom with shower. Mamma Nella is built using the renowned local lava stone which together with the tropical plants, the lawn and the Sicilian ceramics elegantly harmonize this important property. The exterior has several relaxation corners, as well as deckchairs, umbrellas and lounges. Adjacent to the swimming pool there is also a bathroom and a shower. The villa spreads over three floors, two of which stand at garden level. We suggest you to visit the Castello degli Schiavi, jewel of the 18th century Sicilian rural baroque, located only 900 meters away, famous all over the world because it has been used several times as a film set. In 1968 Pier Paolo Pasolini shot some parts of L'orgia; he reached world fame thanks to Francis Ford Coppola who preferred it for the setting of the main scenes of The Godfather, both part I (1972) and II (1974), as the unforgettable explosion of the car after the wedding. We are in the eastern side of Sicily, the homeland of Etna volcano with its very special amenities such as inactive craters (the sons of Etna), caves, forests, lava flows of the past. The villa is located halfway from Catania and Taormina, both 15 km’s away. The pearl of Sicily, one of the worldwide masterpieces of beauty: here it is Taormina, an evergreen location that has attracted people since the ancient times. Archaeology, myth, a typical Arab style architecture, amazing landscapes, a blue sea, and such a noble atmosphere, gives Taormina a unique charm. A walk in Via del Corso is an unforgettable moment to do not miss among exclusive shops, delicious restaurants and coffee, stunning views of the sea, the Greek theatre, the terrifying shape of Etna volcano on the background. Few kilometers away from the downtown, here it is one of the most beautiful place in the world: Taormina mare (Mazzarò, Spisone, Isolabella), with many lido (private beaches provided with deckchairs, restaurants, beach facilities) along the coastline. Other two great locations (very good for fisheries and beaches), are Letojanni (5 kms) and Giardini Naxos (1 km), the latter with the ruins of Naxos, the first Greek settlement in Sicily (VIII b.C.). If you planned to visit Catania I suggest you to park the car in Piazza Alcalà and from there have a walk all around the town: you can start from the worldwide famous Pescheria located in Piazza Duomo (the heart of Catania) and from it approach the Via Etnea, the main street of the town, a pedestrian street with many shops, cafe's and wonderful buldings in Baroque style. Let's walk for about a kilometer, visiting the Roman amphitheatre (in Piazza Stesicoro) until arrive to the Villa Bellini (Catania's public garden). 15 kms driving and you will approach the Alcantara gorges: rafting or just visiting. Syracuse, with its archeological area and the wonderful Ortigia area, is 100 kms away. Its time to eat something and my tip is to taste the unmissable Pasta alla Norma and to enjoy, at least once, a typical Sicilian breakfast: granita and brioche!
