In the Wendorf/Wismar district there is a beach and a pier (Wismar Bay); the natural beaches on the island of Poel are about 10 km away and Boltenhagen about 25 km away.
With motorway connections in all directions, excursions are a must - be it to the Hanseatic city of Rostock, to Bad Doberan or the Baltic Sea resort of Heiligendamm, to the state capital Schwerin or the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
