Ortheide is a wooded area with a high proportion of pine trees. Open fires should be avoided during periods of low rainfall.
For this reason, charcoal grills should not be used.
There is no through traffic in Ortheide. The only vehicle that travels through Ortheide almost every day is the postman, Udo, who, if you have arranged it, will deliver your daily newspaper directly to your vacation home.
