If you're a keen hiker, you can set off directly from the gîte along the many small forest paths, including the famous GR76 (Chemin des Moines), or follow the meadow paths (walking guide provided). And for those who enjoy sightseeing, there are plenty of places to visit: your first stop is the medieval village of Brancion with its castle. Then you can visit Cluny, Tournus, Saint-Gengoux-Le-National, Chalon-Sur-Saône, etc... not forgetting the Burgundy Wine Route.
