Chalet in Barvaux-sur-Ourthe with sauna
Description
THE UNIQUE STORY, AS TOLD BY THE HOMEOWNER
This house came about during the first lockdown in Belgium. The owner was walking through his garden when he stumbled upon this quiet spot. There was only a tree standing there. The owner, found this place relaxing and pleasant, imagined building a cabin there.
Then his neighbour joined him, a specialist in wooden caravans. Soon a good cooperation developed between these two. The hut was conceived by the owner and created by his neighbor. The two friends build the cabin from A to Z.
Initially, the owner wanted to preserve the tree, the only one in this part of the garden, in the middle of the hut, but unfortunately this was not possible for waterproofing reasons. However, his neighbour managed to integrate the tree into the terrace, right next to a Scandinavian bath.
After a few months, the owner realized that his tree house was rather symmetrical and he didn't like it. So he asked his neighbor, who has since become a friend, to "break down this terrible symmetry." To this end, the right side was extended, the door moved and the living room rearranged. This change made the living room impressively larger.
The cabin was a beautiful and lengthy project that took 6 months and was constantly changing until the last day. The homeowner used beautiful materials and provides maximum comfort to its tenants. Many couples must have been impressed, as several Belgian couples chose this wooden cabin for their honeymoon because they could not go abroad.

The tree house is in the owner's backyard, in itself nothing wrong with that, only if it seems like you have a more private piece. The neighbor's playset is a few meters from the tree house. The tree house was neat and clean. Except for the oven. for future tenants I recommend to bring drinking glasses and possibly bowls (for yogurt or the like) that was not there. For the landlord, a sweeper (and / or sweeper and can) is missing, the net is broken to remove leaves, flies from the hot tub. The lamp next to the footpath is broken. The 2 separate mattresses do not fit in the bed base, so the mattresses are slanted in it. Shower / toilet / fridge clean and tidy.
What a beautiful tree house in a great location! Everything was arranged, house was clean, key was ready. The tree house is clearly made with love.. hot tub worked great with the directions we were given. Owner is easily accessible and nice. Worth repeating! Beautiful surroundings in the Ardennes, lovely walking and enjoying.
Expectations were high after seeing the photos. On arrival we found a full ashtray and still hair in the kitchen. The hot tub was also not cleaned on arrival, because plants floated in here and we also found hair on the side. The crockery was very minimal. For example, we missed normal glasses. Finally, there was also no lighter or matches to light the wood of the hot tub. Concerning the hot tub: we like to light a fire, but after 4.5 hours of full heating, only the top layer of water has become warm. As a result, little or no use can be made of it. In our eyes this is a mockery! Neighbor Jo is always there for you and helps where necessary. Furthermore, a very nice environment and beautiful nature. There are nice places and especially Durbuy is a must to visit.
Tree houses made great! But, filthy oven, incomplete kitchen utensils (no breakfast plates, 2 different sizes of wine glasses, dirty counter, etc. Furthermore, the owner says that the hot tub with 4 pieces of wood, is warm within 2 hours 😳 Well we can heat very well, but after 3/4 hours and 10 blocks further, certainly not hot and cold feet 😳 very unfortunate, but luckily we can always enjoy ourselves 😍
It is very nice to stay in the Tree House Creatively decorated and cozy. Not too big but everything is there. Very nice with the sauna and hottube. The hot tube must be fired with logs. That will keep you busy for a while before all the water is nice and warm, but it is a nice pastime. The logs are included and put under the tree house. Beautiful surroundings which invite to beautiful walks. Also a tour from the tree house along the river Orthe. about 4-5 km. A very nice place is La Roche with many places to eat and drink. In short, we enjoyed the stay very much.
Very nice concept. Treehouse in good order, equipped with the necessary comfort. Visit Durbuy really worth it. Beautiful walks, very good food, highly recommended!
