Nice clean big house in a quiet place with beautiful views. But a few things really need to be fixed: unreliable hot water; a badly creaky bed on the ground floor; oil air in the basement and a swimming pool whose water level drops quickly: time for an upgrade / major maintenance.
Great arrival! Fine description received in advance by mail (in 3 languages). Key to pick up in a key box at the house itself. You will receive the code by e-mail. Just enter the address based on the coordinates as our fairly recent navigation did not recognize the street. It is a spacious house, fully equipped and with a wonderfully large and flat garden and nice swimming pool. In the country house full use of the BBQ. Environment is remote, rental car is necessary to get somewhere. But wonderfully free, no worries or nuisance. The owner returned as tips: - Place stair gates on at least the upper terrace so that our son of one and a half can safely enter the terrace. With every turn you are taken out of your sleep. Our 6 year old son slept well there. Also a nice idea from the owners: leave something behind for the following residents. This was also the case with us on arrival (think of a pack of macaroni, dishwasher tablets, soft drinks, etc.). For example, we have left a freezer full of ice and a fridge with tasty and practical things behind.
Beautiful Villa, Beautiful Location.
After arriving at the house, the mail was given information about the details of keys, WiFi etc. Location is quite difficult but search for the tall trees and the house is easily found from the village. The kitchen and living room as well as the Ground floor well suited for staying. Unfortunately, the basement was another story. The cv boiler runs on oil and this tank is placed in the garage. The smell of oil goes through the whole floor. Bedroom with doubler is not usable by air. In the bathroom downstairs there is mold everywhere, so that this air can not be removed from the bedroom. We placed bed from the room next to the garage in the other room. The damp, funky air we tried to reduce by airing the house all day With a garage door open, this could not be a problem. The swimming pool is fine, noting that there are several broken tiles and sharp edges. We think it's also a leak as we had to fill a few liters regularly. In addition, the garden is beautiful, but the wind has little to do in the evening, we have eaten outside for the rest. The cows are very complete. No mosquitos are flying and some freaks are sometimes difficult. We have passed the complaints to Belvilla, and within 24 hours there was a response and the manager who managed the house came along, in the short term nothing could be changed. Belvilla called us back the day later and made a friendly proposal to soften the complaints. All in all a good holiday but house needs some maintenance and adjustment in the ventilation.Peniche is close, supermarkets accessible by car, food in village at poco great for almost nothing. Day Lisbon with hop on hop or was amazing.
The house was still a bit difficult to find despite tom tom. Downstairs it's a bit clammy, but the house and swimming pool are amazing. However, the sun is fast away at 19.30.
It was just a search for the house. Contact with the owner just passed by email we did not meet him. In advance we received a clear explanation of the location of the house key and the like. The house is spacious and has a nice large garden. We were with 4 adults and 4 (bigger) children. Of the 2 bedrooms found below, 1 is not really a notable bedroom. There are no windows in this room and the window that is located is adjacent to the garage. The garage smells a lot of engine oil and it is also good to smell downstairs. We have been sleeping with our children in 1 bedroom, so we did not have to bivak in the dense bedroom. In the village there is nothing to be found, but there is a very good BBQ restaurant (PoCo DoZe) cheap and very tasty food. Nearby Obidos village is very nice. Other villages / towns that are nice to visit are Fatima, Nazare and Peniche. Unfortunately, no information is available in the house where the nearest supermarket, bakery, Etc. If we contacted the owner, we received a quick reply by email. Investing in good mattresses would not be gone, and additional sun loungers for the pool would be useful (we were with 8 people but there were only 6 sunbeds).
