Description
Watchtower in Cornwall with Sea Views
Discover the unique charm of The Watchtower at Western Watch, a pet-friendly retreat in Pendeen, Cornwall. This historic converted watchtower offers stunning panoramic views of the fields, coast, and Pendeen Lighthouse. Originally a granite barn, it was transformed by local ship’s radio operator William Waters, who added authentic maritime features like portholes, ship parts, and vintage radios, creating a seafaring atmosphere. Inside, enjoy an open-plan living space with a kitchenette perfect for relaxing with your furry friend after exploring Cornwall’s rugged coastline.
Upstairs, a cozy double bedroom with low beams leads to the ‘Lookout,’ where you can step out onto a wraparound balcony to take in sweeping sea views. The garden, though enclosed, requires supervision for dogs and features outdoor seating and expansive lawns. Just a mile downhill, the lighthouse and nearby beaches such as Beach Cove and Portheras Cove provide excellent opportunities for swimming, walking, and discovering Cornwall’s hidden coastal treasures.
Throughout the tower, admire artworks by local artist Angela Annesley, whose collection is on display for guests, offering a special artistic experience. Please note the open tread stairs, sloped ceilings, and that children are not accepted. One well-behaved dog is welcome, making this an ideal retreat for nature-loving pet owners. Additional accommodation for six guests is available on-site. Whether seeking peace, adventure, or artistic inspiration, The Watchtower promises an unforgettable Cornish escape.
