Description
Our holiday home "Rühlen" is very quiet, but centrally located in Auw near Prüm.
The village is beautifully located in the north-western Schneifel foothills.
Surrounded by forests, valleys and picturesque streams.
From here the view extends well into Belgium, but the view also turns eastwards, where the entire Schneifel ridge with the "Schwarzer Mann," the second highest peak of the Schneifel, becomes visible.
Because of its location and landscape, certainly in one of the most beautiful spots of the German-Belgian High Eifel.
Opposite the house there is a restaurant with an adjoining playground.
Another restaurant is located in the village, other restaurants e.g. the log cabin "Zum Schwarzen Mann", but also the restaurants in Bleialf, Prüm, Olzheim and in the Belgian region are nearby.
The same applies to grocery stores, pharmacies and doctors who can be reached quickly on both the German and Belgian sides.
There are numerous destinations for excursions in sunny but also in variable weather.
During hikes in the North Eifel Nature Park and in the High Fagnes there are about 160 km of marked paths, that you can set off on straight from here.
Cycle paths exist in different directions and begin only 10 km away.
The Eifel-Ardennes cycle path in conjunction with the Belgian Ravel is a picturesque route with viaducts, and the Kylltal cycle path also has its sights and extends as far as the Moselle.
Guided walks along the West Wall with its bunker ruins, smuggling tours and walks with the Nebelfrau (Lady of the Mist) are very interesting and varied.
Also nearby are the Bleialf visitor mine and the abbey town Prüm with its beautiful basilica.
Bundled highlights can be found in Belgium/Losheim with Krippana, a year-round nativity scene exhibition. The exhibitions Steinwelten and Eurotechnica are right next door.
For the smaller guests the Eifel Zoo is not far from here.
In winter, skiers and tobogganers will also get their money's worth, the "Wolfsschlucht" has very attractive offers, including downhill slopes with a snow cannon and cross-country skiing tracks.
In Manderfeld/Belgium there is a ski rental with cross-country skiing tracks .
Larger cities are around our village in all directions, easily accessible, in a star pattern.
Trier (80 km), Cologne (105 km), Koblenz (120 km), Aachen (110 km), Liège (105 km), Luxembourg (78 km) and up to the Moselle there are about 65 km.

The cottage was cozy and everything we needed was provided. The landlord was very clear in communication and it was no problem to arrive a little later. Top!
Spacious and very complete house, quiet area. Characteristic house with lower ceilings than we are used to, be careful with bumping your head. Very friendly and hospitable owner.
Very friendly hostess, house was super, fully equipped. It was super clean.
An authentic German "Bauernhaus", fully furnished and decorated. Very clean and with beds made, towels / kitchen towels, etc. ready to move in. Wonderful feeling! Also really everything to inventory present. The environment is beautiful. It is a nice base for fun activities. The village itself is very small and quiet (nearest supermarket is a 10-minute drive). For our family it was disadvantageous that the bathroom and the toilet were only downstairs. "At night you had to go down a flight of stairs to get there. Our children (primary school age) did not like that. We also found the low ceilings / door frames unpleasant. We were actually just too long for the house .... but yes, that is the disadvantage of an authentic house .... In terms of service / reception / hygiene / facilities, the house gets a thick 9. The layout / lower ceilings unfortunately bring this figure down for us. The manager is a very friendly lady , who wants to do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible!A nice place to stay!
Very nice house, very clean, beautiful terrace
Great well equipped with all comforts! One point of consideration passed to make 2 beds suitable for 2 x 2 adults instead. only 1 adult bed!
