It was a cozy and practical group house. The layout of the rooms we were given was not right, so it was chaotic and we didn't have the right bedding. Also difficult that the starting explanation was in German and the people who got there so early could not speak German. English would still be useful to be able to do everything correctly in terms of closure, electricity and heating. The rooms and bathrooms were adequate. The kitchen was large and well equipped. There was certainly enough dining space and the recreation and sitting areas were fun to stay with enough entertainment. The region is fantastically beautiful, not far from the pleasant town of Monschau and the beautiful Eifel nature park. We went canoeing nearby and had a nice walk. There are plenty of shops nearby.
The old hotel is a fantastic place to spend a weekend with lots of friends: there is a bar, dining room, pool/table tennis room and everything is nicely decorated in a gemütlich way. After years in Belgium, we also noticed that Germans are a lot nicer audience than Belgians. After all, they also have something to make up for, but still: nice überasschung. The host is a nice and reliable guy with whom there is nothing to complain about. Helps when necessary, does not bother you if you want to be alone. Also very nice: the neighbors don't hear you if you are screaming the number Swimming in Bacardi Lemon with 22 drunken idiots in the bar.
The homeowner seems unfriendly. In addition, he wanted to increase the costs for us, because we came with more people than initially planned, although you pay a flat rate regardless of whether you are traveling with one or 20 people. In addition, he wanted to collect the visitor's tax for children. The house was poorly prepared for newcomers. The first night we should collect the service costs back because we did not have hot water. The caretaker was very friendly and went out of his way to iron out the owner's mistakes. The owner (specified contact person) could not be reached over the phone at all times. We were very satisfied with the landscape and the conditions in the area and would maybe come back if possible. The house is a bit clocky and maybe too expensive ...
It is an old hotel that is rented out as a group accommodation with room for 30 people with all the amenities that belong to such a hotel. Inside you have all the space to cook extensively, there is a music system, you can play pool, table football and table tennis and there is plenty of room to sit, eat and drink There are 3 large fridges and 2 large freezers You can rinse dishes quickly, and there are plenty of cooking options with a large oven, huge pans, and basically everything you need Walking in the neighborhood is great Old Vogelsang SS camp is within walking distance with a great view over 2 large lakes and lots of forests.
We were there with 13 people for a private IT congress. Everyone had their own IT equipment with them, such as computers, projectors, presenters, etc. The holiday home can accommodate (more than) 30 people, so we could each have our own single bedroom. Unfortunately, the large hall, which was actually the decisive criterion in our decision for this holiday home, was not available at the time of our stay. This was annoying as we were not told this beforehand but we still had the space we needed and were generally very happy. The whole building is a mixture of a quaint pub and lots of modernized elements here and there (walls, furniture, kitchen, TV etc.). The combination is well done, so that our stay was both cozy and functionally comfortable. Communication was a bit difficult at first because we were only given the contact details of the landlord a few weeks before arrival, which we understand, but any questions in advance then had to go through Belvilla, which was anything but easy. Both the landlord and the on-site caretaker are nice and benevolent people; We had a really good chat with the caretaker in particular, who also told us a lot about the development of the building and the surrounding area. The surrounding area is scenic to look at, but that didn't really matter in our case (we mainly stayed in the building or in the courtyard). Avoid making too much noise outside after 10pm, but inside the building you can be as noisy as you want (thick stone walls, new triple-glazed windows). The Internet connection is great (100M down, 5.3M up) and there are WLAN access points distributed throughout the entire building. The chip shop next door is huge, especially the schnitzel. We'd love to come back again if we get a chance
The house was very cold when we were there. The temperature in the bedrooms was 12.9 degrees on the first night and in the morning. The facilities were top notch. If there were any problems, the caretaker came straight away and took care of everything.
