Description
Inside
Mamma Agata is a beautiful, old villa (late 18th century) full of charm where you can breathe in the country air of yesteryear. Antique objects and furniture will tell you about the real Sicily, together with exteriors full of greenery, trees and succulents of all kinds. The villa is strategically located between Etna and the sea... and what a sea! On a clear day you can even see the famous Taormina. At the entrance after the outer gate there is a park where there is also space to park cars. A flight of steps leads up to the entrance of the house. Everywhere there is lava stone.Next to the main house is the beautiful palmento, one of the most imposing in Sicily, the place where grapes were once harvested, crushed and then turned into must and finally wine. Before entering the house you cross a small terrace, with a table and chairs where you can eat under the shade of a large walnut tree. Right next to it is the barbecue. The whole house spreads out over one floor. Entering is the kitchen. Rustic and cosy, it has everything you need. The living room is in the centre of the house; elegant, bright and with antique furniture. The French window opens onto another patio behind the house. There too is a corner with a table and chairs for relaxing. There are three bedrooms. Two doubles and one single. The main bedroom is very spacious, there is also a single bed in addition to the double, a desk, a wardrobe, a dresser... The last two are smaller and look out onto the small terrace, which is also elegant. Furthermore, they can communicate with each other through a door. There are two bathrooms, close to each other. Both with showers. Inside the rustic 'palmento', with a ceiling of wooden beams and built entirely of lava stone, right in the area where, through the two windows, the peasants poured the grapes inside, into the basin for the first harvest, there is a sort of alcove, with a double bed.An almost mystical experience I would say, this room, like sleeping in a cave, but a cave full of fun pastimes! Today, this extraordinary historical place has been transformed by the owners into a sort of place of delight, with treadmills, exercise bikes, billiards, table tennis, table football and a corner with chess and draughts. In short: the kids will love it (and maybe the adults too!).Air conditioning is provided in one of the bedrooms and in the lounge, conveniently located to cool all the other rooms.Note: electricity is included up to a consumption of kWh 200 per week. Any excess will be charged. Before entering the house, one crosses a small terrace with a table and chairs where one can eat under the shade of a large walnut tree. Right next to it is the barbecue.Still in the palmento is a romantic courtyard whose view overlooks the Mediterranean almost to the tip of Italy. And finally, what about the outside? Sublime, with a forest of about 5000 square metres, and with the beautiful pool area, surrounded by greenery from the lawn, facing the sea and all around you only nature. Mamma Agata will offer you a unique stay, relaxation is guaranteed!
