Villa Rotschönberg
Exclusive apartment in an art nouveau villa
Description
Located in the foothills of the Ore Mountains between Meissen, Freiberg and Dresden, this one kilometre-long property which houses Villa Rotschönberg lies directly on the riverbank of the Freiberger Mulde and is surrounded by parks and a private forest. The manufacturer's villa recalls a long history: since 1830 it was part of a silver ore smelter, later the residence of a pulp and cardboard paper mill owner. In 1904 all the factory buildings were rebuilt in Art Nouveau style. In 1958 the cardboard factory burned down completely; only the villa could be saved. From 1990 to 2019, the artist TM Rotschönberg reconstructed the building and the entire property using the highest standards in order to make it available to guests. After all, such an attractive and at the same time secluded location is hard to find. From here you can visit Meissen, Dresden (a trip on the paddle steamer to Saxon Switzerland is an unforgettable experience), to the Freiberg Mining Museum or to Augustusburg Castle. The well-marked Mulde bike path from Holzau to Dessau goes right past the property; however, various bike trips of 30 to 60 km in length that start and end at the house can also be planned along field and forest trails. There are bicycles you can borrow. At the same time, hiking trails through a landscape shaped by silver mining, where you can marvel at the many industrial monuments in addition to the pristine natural surroundings, are perfect for the active tourist. But if you don't want to leave the 40,000 m² property at all, you don't have to, because the peaceful and quaint park as well as the river bank are as relaxing as bathing in the clear water of the Mulde is stimulating.
Guests occupy the entire second floor of Villa Rotschönberg, which measures 200 m² and consists of four bedrooms, a living room, a large kitchen and a club room with pool table, electronic organ and library. There is only one bathroom, which is very large, and a guest toilet. All the furniture was designed and made by the artist to match the elegance of this Art Nouveau villa.
If you are looking for accommodation for more than eight people, you can book another floor in the house, which is also available on Belvilla.

Really spacious and neat apartment. The surroundings are lovely (woods, hills, nice villages and towns) and not so many tourists as you will find in other parts of Europe. Tom and Tanja are great hosts and very willing to share ideas and tips for visits.
Very nice and extraordinary apartment in absolute solitude. Nevertheless, it was so centrally located that we could easily reach Dresden, Leipzig, Meißen, Radebeul and even Prague. In the river right by the house you could swim and the owners were really extremely friendly. We felt very comfortable!
Clean and well-equipped accommodation with a very special atmosphere in a very quiet location, which also offers plenty of space for larger families. Ideal for hiking in the area. Nice and helpful landlords with whom you can have inspiring conversations. We experienced a very relaxing autumn week there, surrounded by wonderfully colored trees and we would love to come back!
The place and the hosts are just great! If everyone renting a holiday home had the same approach and touch to it, all the hotels would be empty (I don "t think it would be that good, though - where would we go then?). Thank you, Tanja and Thomas. You "re fantastic people, we all mean it. I "m sure we" ll see you again. Rafał, Paweł, Jurek, Beata, Martyna, Maciek, Grzegorz
The apartment is bright and comfortably furnished. The outdoor facilities offer plenty of space to relax. To be bathed in the river, bathing shoes are recommended. The house is secluded, it is very quiet there.
The accommodation is beautifully surrounded by a small forest and the Freiberger Mulde, and is an ideal spot to start a hike, mountain bike ride or city trip. The house itself has been very well constructed by the owner, who as a professional artist has a keen eye for aesthetics and quality. From here you can easily reach multiple POI "s such as Freiberg, Meissen, Dresden, Leipzig, Prague and of course the Sächsischen Schweiz. The owner, his wife and his son are very nice, warm and friendly people who will make every effort to make you feel welcome We will return next year!
