Description
Holiday home with 2 bedrooms
The cottage is the oldest house in Westerende. The land register shows that in 1756 a first, certainly humble, mud hut was built here in the sand of the northern edge of the geest. The current building likely dates from around 1830: a typical farm laborer's house of that era and a now rare listed building. The cottage is anything but an anonymous rental property. I bought it primarily to vacation here myself and furnished it to suit my needs. Since then, hardly a year goes by without it being improved: a new thatched roof, gas central heating, a new wooden floor in the living room made of thick oak planks, and new wooden-framed windows built according to traditional East Frisian proportions and dimensions.
