La Rabouillère

The second week we had rented a house in Picardy, then we were not that far from the Netherlands. Arriving there on Saturday we had to swallow. A HUGE amount of waste at the entrance gate, all torn open bags, the garbage men only came on Tuesday evening but they rightly left the open bags. Against my principles, but we didn't do this now either, it was not our waste. The house is beautiful from the outside could use a lick of paint but is authentic. Inside, however, faded glory. On arrival we turned out to have no wifi due to the re-installation of fiber optic. However, we had this house selected, distance, the wifi and the billiard table. The billiard table, cues were broken and the sheet ditto. The house was grubby and some things even dirty, I don't think you can only blame the cleaning lady for this because the house is very large and you do not know how many hours she get paid to clean it, we had to pay 75 euros for cleaning after our week.The dryer was broken, so was the dishwasher (full of mold and spaghetti strands), on Monday there was suddenly a man at the door, who did not propose but went straight to the dishwasher. That turned out to be the handyman. He didn't have to do it for us. We did the dishes by hand and let the laundry dry outside, but it had to be done before Saturday, we were NECESSARY to to be back at the house the next day at the agreed time because then he would come and fix it, as did the door handle of the kitchen door that continuously fell out.The next day we were home at the agreed time but no chores came and show up!! He came the next day around 4 pm, we made it clear to him that it was no longer necessary, he left to come back 2 hours later to fit and measure in front of the door. I was cooking and I was shocked again, said again samedi we are on holiday now

This house is exactly as advertised. Excellent price-quality ratio, and a huge garden! It is a cottage, so a house in an older house. You can of course see that in some places, but that is also the charm of a cottage. The garden is really big, and you have many places to sit in the shade or sun. So with a larger group you don't have to be all huddled together. There is sufficient (garden) furniture for a large group. I think 10 adults is the max. There are several cots and high chairs, so you can go up to 12 with small children. The shower and toilet downstairs are in the utility room, which also contains the washing machine, dryer and boiler. Is a separate construction, but not a problem. The forest nearby is not accessible, so you have to go to a forest for a walk by car. In Marly-Gomont there is a nice circular walk, in the forest of Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache there are walks. Further away we can also recommend a very nice walk at Anor. You can find cooling in the Oise; on the way to Marly-Gomont there is a pick-up point for canoes where you can swim very well (1.5 meters deep). And more active sports you can do in Val Joly (mountain biking, climbing forest, sailing, etc). And don't forget to visit Laon and Saint Quentin. You can do your shopping in Guise (15 minutes drive).

the holiday was quite okay a lot of space and nice garden. But a lot of flies in the kitchen through a nearby meadow with cows. walking on site this is not really what we expected .. the forest nearby is private and actually unkempt .. luckily there was a nice cafe in the village .. otherwise you really have to take the car to discover ... want to you really enjoy the peace and quiet in the garden and you are not a big walker you are good there.
