The cottage was clean and smelled fresh. However, the bathroom was a bit disappointing. Got a house with a bathroom for handicap, in itself I didn't bother me that much. But there was no place to put your toiletries or even a toothbrush or the like. Only a sink with mirror, a bar and three hooks for a manual to hang. Had a house for 6, garden table was just big enough for 4, but 6 chairs. Inside was a sofa where you can sit with a little luck with 3 .. So cramped if you are there with 6. Beautiful domain, many activities or paying (but was still cava), quiet location. Regrettably, WiFi code is for max 3 people. Shop on domain is quite expensive, but at 15min you have a Spar. Staff in the center domain were lax with corona rules Barely wore a mouth mask and little or no disinfection present. But all in all had a good holiday. You have to drive further to get out. The walk around the lake is definitely recommended (15 km). For the food, Le Bergerie in Liessies is definitely recommended. (15min)
Arrival between 5 pm and 8 pm is fine. They want to be of great service to you at the reception (a bit outdated). If your command of the French language is limited, it becomes a bit difficult. The English of the French is also limited. You can work it out with your hands and feet. You have to indicate whether you want TV and / or WIFI, and you have to pay a hefty fee for this. The TV only gives French channels, and the Wi-Fi reception can be good or very disappointing. (heard from other guests and as a warning from the staff at the reception) Anyway the WIFI risky, and to our luck have had a reasonably good range. The area is beautiful, but very many stairs and slopes. Very unsuitable for the disabled. The cottage was not too bad. We were lucky to book a cottage suitable for 6 people for our family of 4. As a result, we had two bedrooms and we did not have to use the sofa bed in the living room. To talk about the surroundings: The park is pretty clean, with a nice swimming pool and quite a lot of facilities such as mini golf, archery, craft clubs and a climbing forest. Also on the beautiful lake you can use a kind of aqua park with air cushions etc on the water, canoeing, sailing, pedal boats etc, Unfortunately you are not allowed to swim further in the lake. For all activities you have to pay a small to very large fee. Sometimes with a point system via a top-up card, sometimes in cash. There is entertainment outside the park. There is something to do, but you have to drive for it. The nearest supermarket is about 15 km away.
Environment fine, arrival was later than planned, but still able to check in via key safe
Beautiful setting, sober cottage.
Friendly receptionists who speak English too. Key turned out to be in a vault we had no code. We also did not know of a key safe, we arrived within opening hours. After a bell they came to us and other guests who just arrived to give the keys. The house was fine and spacious for 2 adults and 1 child of 5. Beautifully located in the woods, lots of climbing (109 the mountain climbs up at The cottage to come). Swimming pool and coeur about 1km walk. Lots of fun and varied activities such as pedalos, survival and archery. Very nice! Really suitable for an active outdoor holiday. Staff are friendly and helpful, good service and our broken toilet was immediately made professional. There is still a lot of smokers everywhere. Of all the dogs we had little inconvenience and the grounds were kept clean. Outside the park is nothing to do. Ke is dependent on nice weather otherwise there is little to experience. Close supermarket at 20 km and camp camp was very small and very expensive. So go ahead! Please note that swimming pool shorts are not allowed in the swimming pool. If you do not have a speedo then you can buy it in all sizes in the bath itself. For a week we found it successful!
The cottage is in a holiday park in green surroundings, near a lake. The park has about 180 terraced cottages. Our cottage had "views" of the forest. The cottage is small and basic. The bare essentials are present, but not luxurious. For 4 people, the cottage suitable for 6 people too small. The cabin is noisy and no garden is available. Children can play alone on a balcony, because the front is the main road from the park where the car 's too hard drive. The reception does not look very inviting, but we were welcomed nicely in English. On the rest of the park speak one after english and the other does not. no problem for us, because you'll work it out. Next to the park is a kind of street with restaurants, restaurants, a few shops and pool. In the autumn there was only one restaurant / brasserie open. the pool was fine attract a large pool for laps, a nice children's pool, a slide and a bath with rapids, wave and hot tub. the Valjoly pass (for € 1.50 per cottage) you can free use the zwembad.Valjoly located in a quiet area with "sleeping towns". For entertainment you have a short drive away. the zoo is Maubeuge is fun and the village of Chimay visit to the castle is a must. the natural environment is beautiful and suitable for (forest) walks and mTB tours.Het park is not suitable for disabled people because of the many stairs and steep slopes. Who we recommend this park to people who are looking for peace and nature and settle for a basic cabin. Not suitable for culture and entertainment seekers and those looking for a luxurious house. Particularly you € 5, - per night to pay for television. We have therefore not done. Well wifi purchased for € 20, - per week. Very pricey!
