The town of Malchin is about nine kilometers away and the district and Hanseatic town of Demmin is twelve kilometers away. From Demmin you can explore the lake and the Peene with a passenger ship, which is a navigable connection to the Baltic Sea. The mouth of the Peene is also known as the "Amazon of the North" and is the last undeveloped river valley in Germany.
