Old Comedy House
Built around the same time that Gelting Castle acquired its present form, it was intended for the theatrical performances, some of which were original works, that were very popular at the time. However, it was perhaps even more shaped by the generations of a family of gardeners who lived here. Anyone who wanders through their garden, runs their hand over the boxwood hedges, and picks up an apple from the ground, might still sense something of their work in this large garden bordering the river and the forest.
This half-timbered house is one of our oldest holiday homes. Far from any neighbors, it offers the feeling of a private country retreat, a place to return to after a day at the nearby beaches, where children play in the garden, swing, and jump on the trampoline, while adults watch the sunset from the terrace.
