The ten-hectare area, also known as the "floating moor", has been part of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park since 1986. A "salt marsh adventure trail" and the national park adventure centre are also part of the Sehestedt lido. Dykes and dykes characterise the face of the marshland.
