In Manderscheid, you will experience the Eifel in its purest form. The small town lies on the Lieser river and is characterised by the imposing Oberburg and Niederburg towering over the valley. All around you, the volcanic past of the Vulkaneifel is reflected in the landscape of hills, forests and rocks. In the cosy centre, take a seat on a terrace or stroll past small shops and restaurants, while on the outskirts of Manderscheid everything is available for daily shopping. From the town you step directly onto well-known hiking trails such as the Lieserpfad, the Eifelsteig and the Burgenstieg. In the Kurhaus, the heart of Manderscheid, you will find the tourist office with plenty of tips for walking and cycling tours. If you are looking for more adventure, hire the equipment at the tourist office for the Burgenklettersteig, a spectacular, secured climb along the rocks near the castles
