WHERE YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF Casa San Lio overlooks Noto's Piazza Mazzini, dominated by the baroque Church of the Santissimo Crocifisso. We are in the heart of the highest area of Noto, in the historical quarter of "Piano Alto" characterised by period houses and narrow streets, busy and well served. A few metres from Casa San Lio are pharmacies, supermarkets and grocery shops, bars, restaurants and pizzerias, and the Post Office. The flat is about 400 metres from the historical centre, the time for a short and pleasant walk to discover the city's characteristic streets and monuments. MOVING TO THE AREA The historic centre of Noto has been a UNESCO 'World Heritage Site' since 2002, together with the other late Baroque towns of the Val di Noto (south-eastern Sicily): Caltagirone, Militello Val di Catania, Catania, Modica, Palazzolo Acreide, Ragusa and Scicli. All together they constitute an exceptional testimony to late Baroque art and architecture, representing the culmination and last flowering of European Baroque. Casa San Lio is an excellent base from which to visit the eight cities day after day, with unique tourist itineraries, food and wine routes and cultural events. From the flat it is also easy to reach some of the most beautiful beaches in south-eastern Sicily and the Vendicari and Cavagrande Nature Reserves. In addition, the territory of Noto boasts numerous important areas of historical and archaeological interest, whose itinerary winds its way to Castello Eurialo and the Neapolis Archaeological Park in Syracuse, reachable by car from Casa San Lio in less than an hour.
